Ps 1. Dan Kroon. ‘Meditation’ comes with many different connotations in our day and age. The influence of eastern religions and things like yoga have had a significant impact. And Christians can easily be put off the concept of meditation by things like ‘inner tranquility’ or ‘mental detachment’. But Psalm 1 encourages us to ‘meditate’ on God’s law ‘day and night’. To soak it up, to digest it, to process it. Because the problem has never been meditation itself. The problem is what we meditate on – what we absorb, what we consume, what we ponder. It’s not about inner peace or the living in the moment. It’s about the law, character and deeds of our God.
